November 6: The China Bucket List

When I came to China last August, I made a bucket list of things I wanted to do here before leaving someday. Today, I was looking back to see how many of those things I’ve done so far.

1. See at least 5 cities in China

As of today, I’ve been to Shanghai (obviously), Hangzhou, Dongguan, and Guangzhou. So I’m really close to making it to 5 cities!

2. Go to Japan

Last spring I made it to Japan! I stayed in Tokyo, but it was a really cool trip.

3. Go to Hong Kong

Hong Kong was one of the first trips I took after coming to China. I went in December 2018 for a week, and I would highly recommend going if you ever have the chance.

4. See the Great Wall

Not yet….

5. See the Terra Cotta Warriors

Nope….

6. See the pandas

Unfortunately, no…..

7. Go to Taiwan

I had a Tawain trip hypothetically planned, but I couldn’t get off work, so it didn’t work out.

8. See the Hangzhou West Lake

Hangzhou was the first trip I took outside of Shanghai! The West Lake is so beautiful. It really reminded me of Minnesota, but with mountains.

9. Go to Harbin in the winter

Because I went to Hong Kong last winter, I didn’t have a chance to go to Harbin.

10. Learn some Chinese

Yes! I can say a decent amount of things in Chinese, and my listening and understanding gets better every day!

I’ve completed only 3/10 things on my bucket list so far. But, I’m really excited to say that in a little less than a week, I’m going on a trip! I’ll be starting in Beijing (where I can see the Great Wall), then heading to Xi’an (where the Terra Cotta warriors live), and finally going to Chengdu (where I can see the pandas). After the trip, I’ll have checked off 8/10 things on my bucket list!

Unfortunately, for now, I think I’m going to have to let the Taiwan and Harbin dreams go for a little while. Maybe some in the future, I’ll make to both of those places.

I’m so excited for my trip next week! Be prepared for a few posts about the 3 different cities in the coming weeks.

See you all soon,

Corinn
